Terms & FAQ
Offer more, and you take their place. Every tribute is final — such is the way of thrones.
What is this?
+
A single throne, and upon it the Richest Visitor — the most honoured guest this website has ever received, having offered a greater tribute than anyone before them.
What is the tribute?
+
Each new Richest Visitor offers 20% more than the reigning one, rounded up to the nearest dollar. The first reign was $120. The tribute of the day is always shown beside the throne.
How long does a reign last?
+
For as long as no greater tribute is offered. Every reign is protected for at least 24 hours; after that, a greater tribute claims the throne at once.
May I claim the throne while it is protected?
+
Yes. Offer your tribute now and you are next in the succession: the crown passes to you the moment the current 24 hours are complete, and your own reign is protected for 24 hours in turn. The succession may be settled up to 14 days ahead, each reign 20% greater than the one before. The last in the succession reigns until a greater tribute is offered.
Are tributes refundable?
+
No. Every tribute is final and non-refundable — including when a reign ends, when a portrait is removed for breaking the rules, and if the site closes. Such is the way of thrones.
What does the title mean?
+
It honours the greatest tribute offered so far — nothing more. It makes no claim about anyone's wealth, identity or character.
Is this an investment?
+
No. The throne is not an investment, a security, a collectible or an asset. It cannot be resold or transferred, and nothing will ever be paid out.
What may I present?
+
A portrait and/or a royal proclamation of up to 140 characters, in any language, plus an optional link. Personal portraits, logos, advertisements and messages are welcome. Not permitted: nudity, hate, harassment, anything illegal, minors, impersonating real people without their consent, deceptive or harmful links, and anything that would put our payment processing at risk.
Is every portrait reviewed?
+
Yes. Every portrait is approved by a person before its unveiling — usually within 15 minutes during waking hours. Until then the reigning Richest Visitor remains on the throne. If a portrait is not approved, your tribute and your place are kept and you may present another from your private page. No refund is given.
May a portrait be removed later?
+
Yes, at any time, if it breaks these rules or the law. No refund is given.
How do I offer my tribute?
+
By card or PayPal (in US dollars), or by UPI in India (in rupees, at our posted rate). Card and PayPal tributes are confirmed at once. UPI tributes are verified by hand, usually within a few hours; your place is held while we verify.
How shall I be known?
+
By your full name, your initials, or anonymously — with your nation's flag beside it if you wish. Your email, phone and address are private and used only to correspond with you about your reign.
What happens when my reign ends?
+
We write to you at once, with the name of your successor and the tribute required to reclaim the throne. Your reign is honoured forever in the Laureates, with its own permanent page.
Will the site be here forever?
+
We hope so, but there is no guarantee the site will exist for any period of time.
Privacy
+
We store what you give us (portrait, proclamation, name, country, email and, if you choose, phone and address), your payment reference and your IP address. We do not sell it. Payments are handled by PayPal or your UPI app; we never see card details.
